CONTROLLER?

CONTROLLER? is a duet piece works with the idea of control, who is in control, controller/controlled?

Abstract forms of the music and the beauty of free patterns of the body in dance are intertwined in this swirling pattern of motion and sound. The rhythm and dance are loosely planned and coordinated but the structure happens in the flow, in the moment - both dancer and the musician influencing each other - as a dance in creation by itself. The destination is communication, where the border of control and controller blends into the dance and intention becomes lost in the flow. Becomes a dance in itself.

In this specific context, collaboration means creating simultaneity while also deconstructing it: The dancer, initially hidden behind cables—perhaps embedded in the network—withdraws from the tangle of isolated wires, escapes, returns, while, less than two meters away, the musician’s mixing console, connected to a multi-knobbed sound machine, is populated with dozens of colorful patch cables. Sounds swirl, tones drone, feedback, bass, vibrations, and other manipulations.

Who reacts to whom—dance to sound or sound to body? The destination of Controller? is communication: "where the border of control and controller blends into the dance, and intention becomes lost in the flow"
